Ben and Yuri are both experienced flatwater rowers. Ben coaches rowing occassionaly. Recently, Ben held a 1-day rowing camp at Greater Dayton Rowing for ten experienced scullers looking to improve their skills. Ben recorded video of the campers, then everyone watched the videos while Ben provided advice on how to improve their rowing. The campers went back out on the water with Ben to work on the improvements discussed on land. Ben provided advice and feedback out on the water and directed drills to focus on the specific changes everyone was working on. Then they watched recordings of the second outing.
As these were all experienced rowers changing their rowing technique is difficult, even if it is an improvement. To make a change, they have to unlearn the technique they have been using for thousands of strokes. After they leave the camp, the hard work of turning knowledge into habit begins.
